MANGASIA:
Wonderlands of Asian Comics

During my time at Pentagram London and part of Marina Willer’s design team, I had the opportunity to work on the visuals for the exhibition Mangasia: Wonderlands of Asian Comics.

Project work included creating exhibition graphics and showcases, small-scale 3D models, posters and billboards, wayfinding and illustrations for lanterns featured in the exhibition.

"The exhibition presents a vivid journey through the art of comics and visual storytelling across Asia.
From historical roots to digital innovations and Manga highlighting creators, characters and publications.”

For the lanterns I created a wide range of vector illustrations inspired by original Japanese references which were used for the earliest Manga comics.

The illustrations had to be impactful, but also simple so they could be laser-cut for the construction of physical lanterns hanging in the exhibition.
